About the Position

As a member of the our team, you will design technical solutions, follow best practices to write clean and testable code, and ship high-quality products. Based on your skill set and preferences, you will have the opportunity to work on both the front end and back end of products running in cloud, virtual, and physical environments.

Key technologies we use include Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and Go on the back end and React on the front end. In addition, we have had the opportunity to work with a number of interesting tools for search and storage (Solr, Clickhouse, AWS S3, Azure), containers, and cloud computing (Docker, Kubernetes, and related AWS services).

You will work collaboratively within a highly skilled team consisting of product managers, UI/UX designers, software engineers, DevOps, and QA engineers. We strongly believe in delighting our customers by providing cutting-edge technology and a great user experience, encouraging honest feedback through code reviews by peers, and seeking excellence by setting high standards for quality assurance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable, and testable code
  • Implement performant, high-quality back-end, and front-end code
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, as well as devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation; develop automated tests wherever possible to improve the CI/CD pipeline
  • Actively participate in activities such as brainstorming sessions, development of design specifications and project timelines, documentation, testing, and ongoing support of systems
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (PM, SDM, UX, QA, and DevOps) on defining and refining requirements, implementing them, testing, and shipping to production
  • Share coding practices, design principles, and implementation patterns with other team members; provide expertise and guidance in setting standards, choosing tools, libraries, etc.
  • Perform code reviews

Requirements

  • Back end: strong experience with Python/Django (preferred), or desire to learn, Go or experience with other OO languages (Java, C#, Rust, etc.) and databases such as PostgreSQL or ClickHouse 

OR

  • Front end: experience with React or similar JavaScript frameworks, including commonly used technologies such as TypeScript, WebPack, Redux, etc.

AND

  • Experience with GNU/Linux-based systems
  • Self-driven and willing to work with different technologies & languages
  • Desire to be a fullstack engineer

Desirable skills and experiences

  • Front end: experience with React or similar JavaScript frameworks, including commonly used technologies such as TypeScript, WebPack, Redux, etc.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS services such as S3, Lambda, SNS/SQS, IAM)
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment (SCRUM, SAFe)
  • Experience with Message queueing (Rabbit MQ, Kafka)
  • Good understanding of DevOps tools and technologies (Git, Jenkins, Ansible)
  • Good understanding of Container tools and technologies (Docker, K8s)

Working Conditions

What are our work hours?

Not strictly defined but we usually need to overlap for 5-6 hours daily. We have mandatory daily meet at 10:30 each working day. (Serbian time)

Remote with optional periodic collective work from the office

What do we think about overtime work?

In the long run it leads to burnout so we do not support overtime being a standard and we avoid having it. Usually each of us have their own tasks and some expectations that are clearly communicated and collectively defined (which take into consideration the position of the employee and standard working hours), and the focus is on meeting those expectations.
