About the Opportunity

Join a long-term international data transformation initiative focused on building a modern data platform that enables large-scale analytics, data sharing, and governance across complex operational environments.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for designing and evolving a cloud-native data ecosystem built on Databricks. The platform supports the creation of trusted data products used for analytics, operational insights, monitoring, and advanced business decision-making.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a strategic, multi-year program while collaborating with stakeholders and engineering teams across Europe.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using Databricks.
  • Create and manage data products within a modern lakehouse architecture.
  • Design and implement data transformations following bronze, silver, and gold data layer principles.
  • Establish and maintain governance standards, metadata management, lineage, and access controls.
  • Integrate data from diverse internal and external sources, including REST APIs and event-driven services.
  • Monitor data quality, reliability, and platform performance.
  • Contribute to CI/CD processes and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, architects, and domain experts to deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and help shape the future direction of the platform.

Required Experience

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks in production environments.
  • Practical experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks, workflows, and jobs.
  • Solid understanding of data governance concepts and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog, including lineage, access management, and data-sharing capabilities.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience designing ETL/ELT solutions and working with lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience working in Azure or AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience integrating and consuming REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD practices.
  • Professional communication skills and strong English proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Data Mesh or Data Product-oriented architectures.
  • Knowledge of Azure Functions or other serverless technologies.
  • Experience with Databricks Workflows and Delta Sharing.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with telemetry, IoT, industrial, or operational datasets.
  • Understanding of data security, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience building customer-facing or self-service data products.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, takes ownership of outcomes, and thrives in collaborative environments. This position is best suited for someone who wants to actively build and improve platforms rather than simply maintain existing solutions.

Candidates with backgrounds in data platform development, cloud data engineering, industrial systems, utilities, manufacturing, SaaS products, or other data-intensive environments will be particularly successful in this role.

Working Model

  • Hybrid work arrangement based in Serbia.
  • Preference for candidates located in or near Belgrade.
  • Collaboration with distributed international teams.
  • Occasional travel within Europe may be required.
  • Long-term project with a stable roadmap and significant growth opportunities.
