The Role

Viking Code is looking for an experienced Backend PHP-Symfony Developer to collaborate with our client’s in-house development team in the constant development and persistent search for creative solutions to improve their high-traffic sites.

The Duties and Responsibilities:

• Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers
• Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
• Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges
• Contribute ideas to improve our engineering standards and processes

The Ideal Candidate:

• PHP 8.0 / 8.1
• Symfony 4/5
• Static analyzers like PhpStan
• Unit/functional testing
• Experience with Doctrine as the ORM for MariaDB
• Elasticsearch (mapping/querying/aggregations)
• Docker
• Sonata admin
• Knows how to work with DDD
• Experience with message handling and event-driven design
• Excellent communication skills, including conducting/leading client meetings, conducting presentations, and advising the implementation team on technical issues
• Travel to the Netherlands to work on location with our client when requested
• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree, Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Mathematics, Science & Technology, or equivalent.
