This position combines technical problem-solving with operational support.
Technologies: Linux, Python (back-end, task automation, API integration), and SQL.
Role Overview:
We seek an experienced Linux & Python Engineer to ensure the seamless operation and reliability of critical systems while supporting Python and C++ pipelines.
Job Description
In this role, you will collaborate closely with a leading international investment firm that relies on data-driven research to generate predictive signals (alphas) and craft financial strategies that exploit market inefficiencies. Teamwork is integral to their approach, fueling the development of data models, alphas, and investment methodologies that strengthen their global financial platform.
Your primary responsibility will be to maintain system stability, provide efficient support for C++ and Python pipelines, and assist internal users in a high-speed, data-rich environment.
Key Requirements:
Linux Environment:
- In-depth knowledge of Linux systems.
- Ability to execute and debug programs in a Linux environment.
- Experience in workload design, orchestration, and monitoring.
- Proficiency in Bash scripting.
Python Back-End Development:
- Familiarity with various APIs.
- Automation of monitoring and alerting processes.
- Debugging and optimizing existing code.
Databases:
- Understanding of relational database structures.
- Experience working with MySQL.
- Querying data and resolving database-related issues.
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have):
- Knowledge of data pipelines or experience with data-centric projects.
- Familiarity with C++.
Responsibilities
User Support & Troubleshooting:
- Assist internal users by diagnosing and resolving system-related issues.
- Oversee data pipelines, monitor execution, and address potential problems.
- Recreate technical issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with engineers on permanent fixes.
- Deliver prompt solutions to technical challenges impacting system performance or user experience.
Automation & Tool Development:
- Develop Python scripts and tools to streamline system operations, with a focus on optimizing memory usage.
- Implement monitoring and telemetry solutions to enhance system observability and proactively detect issues.
Pipeline Optimization:
- Regularly evaluate pipeline performance, seeking opportunities to eliminate manual tasks and reduce operational workload.
- Play a hands-on role in improving efficiency and system reliability through innovative solutions.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, developers, and product teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Contribute insights from monitoring and troubleshooting efforts to enhance ongoing pipeline improvements.
